Topic: “Transformational Giving: Why the Future of Philanthropy is Blended Gifts”
The lines between major gifts and planned giving are disappearing, and organizations that continue to operate in silos risk missing their most transformational opportunities.
Today’s donors are increasingly using a combination of current and deferred giving vehicles to maximize both impact and financial efficiency. As a result, the most significant gifts are no longer purely “major” or “planned.” They are blended.
This session will explore how to rethink traditional fundraising structures to better align with how donors actually make decisions. Through real world examples and practical frameworks, this keynote will challenge participants to rethink their approach and position planned giving as a central driver of major and principal gift success. Attendees will gain insight into how to identify blended gift opportunities, engage donors in more holistic philanthropic conversations, and partner more effectively across development teams.
Key Takeaways:
-
Understand the growing role of blended gifts in transformational philanthropy
-
Learn how to identify and structure blended gift opportunities
-
Explore strategies for integrating planned giving into major gift conversations
-
Gain insight into organizational models that support cross functional collaboration
-
Walk away with practical ideas to elevate planned giving within your fundraising strategy
10:45-10:55AM BREAK
10:55 AM-12:00PM Session 2 - Nathan Stelter, President, The Stelter Company
Topic: “Trust, Transparency, and Technology: Navigating the Planned Giving Journey with Boomers”
Understanding the philanthropic psychology of Baby Boomers is essential in today’s complex donor landscape, as both leading and lagging Boomers seek meaningful, transparent impact from their giving. This session will explore how nonprofits can build trust, communicate clearly, and break through the noise to engage potential planned giving donors. By examining the donor journey and the role of modern technology, we’ll highlight how personalized communication, data-driven insights, and streamlined outreach can strengthen relationships, enhance transparency, and guide Boomers from initial interest to long-term planned giving commitments.

Topic: “The Next $1 Trillion: Winning the Legacy Giving Opportunity”
The largest intergenerational wealth transfer in history is already underway, yet many organizations remain underprepared to capture its full philanthropic potential.
While trillions of dollars will change hands in the coming decades, only a small percentage is projected to flow to charitable causes. The challenge is not a lack of opportunity. It is a lack of alignment, strategy, and execution within many planned giving programs.
This session will explore both sides of the equation. First, it will frame the scale and significance of the legacy giving opportunity. Then, it will examine the most common reasons organizations fail to secure estate commitments, including structural barriers, missed timing, and lack of integration with major gift strategy.
Participants will leave with a clearer understanding of what separates organizations that consistently secure legacy gifts from those that struggle to build momentum, along with practical steps to strengthen their own approach.
Key Takeaways:
-
Understand the scope and implications of the generational wealth transfer
-
Identify the most common reasons planned giving programs underperform
-
Learn how to align legacy giving with major and principal gift strategy
-
Explore practical ways to identify and engage legacy donors earlier
-
Walk away with a clearer framework for building a sustainable legacy giving pipeline
